On Wednesday (Oct. 16), the superstar dropped her latest single, “Harleys in Hawaii” and its appropriately tropical video.
Shot on location in Hawaii, the clip opens with Perry cruising down the song’s proverbial “heart-shaped highway” wearing a fringed motorcycle jacket emblazoned with the psychedelic yin yang logo featured in “Never Really Over.”
“You and I-I/ Riding Harleys in Hawaii-ai/ I’m on the back, I’m holding tight/ Want you to take me for a ride, ride/ When I hula-ula, hula/ So good you’ll take me to the jeweler, jeweler, jeweler/ There’s pink and purple in the sky-y, ay/ We’re riding Harleys in Hawaii-ai-ai.”She sings..
Elsewhere in the video, Perry revs up her love interest’s engine with a steamy beachside rendezvous (calling to mind a similar scene in 2012’s “Teenage Dream”) and throws a lowkey dance party with friends involving Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, hula hoops and a stripper pole. The visual ends with the pop star on the back of her tattooed love’s titular motorcycle, with nothing but the island’s lush greenery and open road ahead.“Harleys in Hawaii” serves as Perry’s third single in recent months, following “Never Really Over” and “Small Talk” earlier this year. While the star has remained mum on a potential title or release date, her follow-up to 2017’s Witness is expected sometime in the near future.
