Eddie Van Halen has died.

The co-founder of iconic band Van Halen died Tuesday morning after fighting throat cancer, his son Wolf confirmed on Twitter. He was 65.

JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE – In celebration of a 2015 Summer/Fall North American Tour, Van Halen performed a special concert for Walt Disney Television via Getty Images’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” March 30 on Hollywood Boulevard. “I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning,” he wrote on Twitter. “He was the best father I could ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift.”

“My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever recover from this loss,” he added. “I love you so much, Pop.”
