‘Aquaman’ star Jason Momoa has revealed that the upcoming sequel to the blockbuster film will be based on ideas that he pitched to the studio.
The 2018 underwater superhero flick raked in more than $1 billion dollars at the worldwide box office, so a follow up was pretty much inevitable. Momoa, who plays the title character, is clearly very close to the role, and says after its release he went to Warner Bros. with a sequel plan all mapped out, and they loved his ideas.
It seems likely that the plot of the new movie will see the return of bad guy Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, as the actor recently confirmed he’ll be reprising the role for part 2. The actor was also recently cast to appear opposite Keanu Reeves in ‘The Matrix 4’, but that shouldn’t interfere, as ‘Aquaman 2’ isn’t scheduled to swim into cinemas until December of 2022.
