Alec Baldwin and his family are reacting after the 63-year-old actor discharged a prop gun on the set of the movie “Rust” killing a cinematographer and injuring the director.

“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours,” Baldwin said in a series of tweets Friday.

Hutchins, 42, was airlifted in a helicopter after the incident to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office. The director, 48-year-old Joel Souza, was transported via ambulance to Christus St. Vincent’s hospital and is receiving emergency treatment for his injuries.

“I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family,” Baldwin said in the tweets from an account for the Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation.
